Dry spell

Whether exploring the potential health benefits, trying to find alternatives to their usual drinks, or just reading up on the official campaign, the search volume for "dry january" on Google skyrocketed once again in 2023, and is rising again this year.

After indulging in one-too-many of everything over the festive season, the idea of abstaining from intoxicants for the entire month, or at least a week, has gained momentum since the campaign was introduced in the UK a decade ago, with roughly one-in-six US adults reporting their participation in Dry January in recent years.
